Sea turtles are very interesting creatures and their innocent appearance touches the hearts of many.  Their battle for survival, however, is becoming harder and harder as time goes by because of man's encroachment on their nesting areas and pollutants of all forms that we put in the oceans.  North Florida provides nesting areas for many sea turtles, mostly loggerheads, with an occasional Leatherback and Green.
For much more information on sea turtles and their activity in the Jacksonville area, click on the link below for the Beaches Sea Turtle Patrol, Inc.  They are very active in their efforts to observe, document, and ensure the safety of the nesting efforts of the sea turtles.
