Hello Friends,
Two weeks ago I was contacted by Lisa Locke of
the Duval Public Library. They are very interested in us doing
programs for branch libraries in town. They also are very interested
in us doing programs for their summer reading program. Lisa e-mailed
all the branches and all were interested in having us participate in
their programs. Lisa has told two branches (Highlands and East Side)
that they would be the first two in line for our visits. The program
director is VERY excited about the prospect of having us participate
in their education programs for the local kids. I feel this would be
a wonderful opportunity to not only teach the children about
reptiles, but to encourage them to improve their literacy skills. I
also think that this would be a wonderful opportunity for some of
our new members to buddy up with some of our more seasoned veterans
to get experience teacheing others about the animals we love so
much. a few dates have been mentioned already. The Highlands Branch
are Saturday, May 20th after 12noon, or Saturday, May 27th, anytime.
The East Side Branch are Tuesday, April 11th at 10:30am or 3:30pm
and Tuesday, May 16th at 3:30pm. We will keep you updated on this.
It’s that time of year again.......our Annual
Christmas Party. This is one of the best opportunities for us to
mingle and get to know each other AND....you get a present too!
Remember, if you plan to participate in the Chinese Raffle, you will
need to bring a wrapped, untagged gift for each participant. The
gifts should cost no more than $10. We also ask that you bring your
favorite sidedish to share. Please, no live animals or alcohol. I
hope you all can attend.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank Manny
Granados for arranging the wonderful speaker, Karen Bjorndal, last
month. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to mix and mingle
with Gator Club members. Thanks again, Manny.
